CHILLICOTHE, Illinois – When asked to place an advertisement in a flyer or poster promoting IVC athletics, local merchants have the right to know who is selling the ad space and where the funds will go.

“Local merchants may think they are supporting IVC athletics by placing ads over the phone with people stating they represent the Athletic Boosters and/or IVC High School , but in reality, it may not be true,” says Denny O’Boyle, IVC Athletic Director. “The only IVC sponsored project selling advertisements is the Ghost Booster’s Fall and Winter Souvenir Programs and pocket schedules.”

Proceeds from the Souvenir Program sales have a great impact on IVC athletics. In past years, the revenue generated from this advertising has paid for season athletic awards, video equipment for instruction and scouting, strengthening equipment, and many other purchases for athletic team use. Local businesses will be asked to show their support by advertising in the 2005/2006 Souvenir Programs. Past advertisers will receive a letter in May asking them to participate once again. Interested businesses may contact a Ghost Booster member or the IVC Athletic Department for more information.

When asked to support IVC athletics with your advertising dollars, ask the right questions. Ask if he/she is a parent of an IVC athlete? Ask if he/she is a Ghost Booster member? Ask if you can make the check out to IVC Athletic Department? By asking the right questions, you can insure the dollars you spend will be invested in IVC athletics!

IVC Ghost Boosters, based in Chillicothe , Illinois , is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial and volunteer assistance to all Illinois Valley Central athletes and athletic departments.
